Not Always
Receiving Your Weekly Newsletter?
Here's advice to
help it get through!
The proliferation of unsolicited advertising
e-mail (spam) in recent years has resulted in ever-more stringent filters
to weed out such mail to keep it from cluttering your mailbox. These filters,
usually put in place by your e-mail service provider or sometimes through
software installed on individual computers, look for certain characteristics
that are common to much spam and delete or mark these messages as "spam."
Unfortunately, these filters are not truly "smart" and very often think
something is spam that is not.
That is often true of our newsletter, which, even though you have subscribed
to it and it is obviously a legitimate and wanted piece of e-mail, is "seen"
by some filters as spam. As a result, even though we're sending it to you
(unless your address has been "bouncing" or you have requested removal)
you may never even see it.
One way to solve the problem is to put our address on your "white list"
or "permitted senders" list if you have one. Sometimes this is nothing
more than having our address in your address book (if you're using your own
screening software). Sometimes this requires accessing the white list provided
by your e-mail provider and putting our address there. With that in mind,
our weekly newsletter gives this as its return address:
newsletter@gospelgreats.com
You should be able to get the information you need about adjusting your "white
list" from your e-mail service supplier. It would be a good idea to be sure
your family and other personally significant e-mail addresses appear in the
system as well so you can reliably receive mail from them, too.
If you have subscribed to our newsletter and don't receive it, or suddenly
stop receiving it, please drop
me a note. We'll check to be sure your address is still on the list.
(Addresses are removed automatically if the system determines that the
address is invalid because it "bounces" back from the receiving system several
times.) If your address is still on the list, it probably means that
some spam filter somewhere is blocking it. (If that's what's happening,
who knows how much more of your legitimate mail you're never getting!)
