A story is told of a Jewish man who was riding on the subway reading an Arab newspaper. A friend of his, who happened to be riding in the same subway car, noticed this strange phenomenon. Very upset, he approached the newspaper reader.
"Moshe, have you lost your mind? Why are you reading an Arab newspaper?"
Moshe replied, "I used to read the Jewish newspaper, but what did I find? Jews being persecuted, Israel being attacked, Jews disappearing through assimilation and intermarriage, Jews living in poverty. So I switched to the Arab newspaper. Now what do I find? Jews own all the banks, Jews control the media, Jews are all rich and powerful, Jews rule the world. The news is so much better!"
What are you reading? The world is what it is regardless what you are reading about it.
Do you read the newspapers? What about magazines? Do you listen to the media's spin on things?
Why not read the Bible? The news is always good, always true. Times might not be good, but God is in control. Today might be tough but tomorrow is out of this world. Today you might feel alone, but God is always with us even until the end of the world. Jesus died, but He rose again. Jesus ascended to heaven, but He gave the gift of the Holy Spirit to be our guide and defender on this earth. Jesus died, but today Jesus lives and is seated beside the Father interceding for us.
What are you reading? Do you know how the story ends? If you know Jesus, a fantastic ending is as sure as if it had already happened.
