I like the story about the grandmother who took her little grandson to the beach. They built castles and played in the sand. Suddenly a big wave came in and swept little Billy out to sea. Grandma fell on her knees and prayed, "Lord, if you just send little Billy back to me, I won''t ask for another thing."
Lo and behold, a wave swept in and there came Billy. Grandma hugged and kissed him. She checked to be sure he was ok. All was well.
Then Grandma looked up toward heaven and said, "When we came, he had a hat."
How often do we ask God for some blessing and receive it. But, instead of saying, "Thank you," we tell God what we wanted that He didn't send. He blesses and we complain. He blesses and we ask for more. He blesses and we demand more. He blesses and it isn't enough for us.
We serve a God who loves us. Be sure to thank Him for taking time for you. Thank Him for his blessings.
Dottie Rambo wrote a song that we need to honestly speak to the Lord. "I didn't come here to ask You for anything, I just came to talk with you, Lord."
