"My God, my God, why have you left me alone?" Matthew 27:46 gives us a glimpse into Jesus' anguished feelings of desertion when He was on the Cross.
Have you ever been so sick that you've just cried, "Oh Lord, do something." This is where Jesus was only deeper. Much deeper.
Imagine being deserted by everyone. Imagine the pain. Imagine the intense loneliness and fear.
But the thing that is so remarkable to me is that Jesus stayed on the Cross. He had to cope with all these feelings. And still He stayed on the Cross, all the time knowing that He had the power to get down.
I think my willpower is pretty good. When I know I can't eat chocolate, I don't eat it. But, I can't imagine my willpower keeping me on a cross with all the pain mental, physical, spiritual and emotional that Jesus had to suffer. If I had the power at my fingertips to come down from that cross, I'd have been out of there.
Jesus. What a tremendous example! What a worthy Lord! What an awesome God!
What a risen Savior!
