Rev. David Heil, Paul's father, pastored churches for more than 50 years. For more than a decade during those years, he prepared and recorded a daily "minute meditation" aired on local radio stations. Now in his 90s, we were delighted when he gave us several notebooks of his original meditation scripts and I wanted to share one with you today. God's Word and its principles never change and Pop's writings are still valid today. Shelia
"Don't Give Way"
Have you ever been so distressed, so burdened, so overwhelmed by one wave of trouble after another that you felt you could take no more? Have your cherished dreams been shattered, and do you feel that you just want to give up and crawl away in some corner to weep your heart out?
This is not an uncommon feeling in our day. Remember, though, that God knows all about that terrible burden which is weighing you down. He allows it in order to develop your spirituality. Your friends may fail you, your children may disappoint and disgrace you, and the enemy of your soul may do everything to try to make you collapse in despair; but DON'T YOU GIVE WAY. Hope thou in God. This is what the Psalmist says in Psalm 43:5 "Hope in God."
It is not in vain that we are told that we must "through much tribulation enter into the kingdom." Without trials we would never be shaped according to the perfect plans of our wise Master Builder.
