In a recent weekly email newsletter from our friends at WCKB Radio, Margie Hughes wrote an article about talking to God. With her permission, I share it with you.
"Talking To God"
by Margie Hughes
When you got out of bed this morning, what was the first thing you did? Groan? Eat? Have a cup of coffee? Did God cross your mind?
This morning Darren had to get to work earlier than usual and so when he got up, he actually had a few minutes to sit on the front porch and have a cup of coffee with me. We talked about our day, talked about how we could show Jesus to our neighbors who are dealing with a death in their family, and of course, talked about our daughter in China.
After a few minutes of silence I asked Darren to pray for our day. It went something like this... "Dear Jesus...please come and live through us today. When we try to do it by ourselves, we really stink at it."
That was it. No amen. No nothing. Just two sentences. At first I thought he was kidding around, but when I looked at him, he was very serious. It was a simple yet very true and sincere prayer. I do stink at trying to live my life without Him being first and foremost in it.
My heart's cry is for Him to live through me. And it took a simple two sentence prayer for me to realize sometimes that's all we need to say to Him.
