Paul's Epistle...
"Your Favorite Verses - Part 3"

I was very happy to see how many of you sent in your favorite verses several weeks ago when I requested them – along with an explanation of why these verses are so special. Here are some more, with verses quoted as the writer submitted them:

Psalm 73:26 "My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; He is mine forever." (NLT) The Lord gave me this verse after my heart attack in April, 2006. – Jim Buck

Luke 7:47-48"Wherefore I say unto thee, He sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little. And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven." (KJV) Like this woman and also the woman at the well, my sins were many. Therefore I was forgiven more than someone with very little sin in their life and I love my Savior with the greatest love possible. It is so hard for me to understand that He would love me so much He would die for a little nobody like me. – Janet Burton

Isaiah 55:7 "Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon." This is the verse that actually got me to come back to the Lord. I almost forgot how good His mercy is towards us when we fall. When we come to Him and ask forgiveness, He just showers us with His love. – Pam R.

2 Cor. 5:21 "God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, that in Him we might become the righteousness of God." (NIV) It never ceases to amaze me that the sinless son of God would willingly take my sin [and] in exchange give me His righteousness. That is mind-blowing. – Victor P.

Proverbs 3:6 "In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He will direct thy paths." This verse was written by my mother in a small testament that she gave me when I left home when I was 13. It has stayed with me all these years – well, 13 years plus 57 years of experience. – Vern Hamm

Philippians 4:8"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." When I returned home from life-threatening surgery, [this was] the verse the Lord gave me, which I was puzzled by... I just could not quite figure out ‘why' this verse. After three more surgeries at Duke University to correct the first surgery, my daughter, who was attending Duke at the time, called me and said, ‘Hey, Mom, have you read Philippians 4 lately?' So now the whole chapter was for me. Months later, I received a card from the [son of the] dean of Campbell University...who attended Wake Forest with my oldest daughter, and he said, ‘I don't really know what to say to you except that Baptists all over North Carolina were praying for you. And he ended the note with Philippians 4. Not only did God give it to me for comfort and peace, He reinforced it all through my recovery by people that loved and cared for me. He is so faithful to give me what I need just when I need it. Praise be to God!" – Jo Cockman

Numbers 23:19 "God is not a man that He should lie; neither the son of man that He should repent... Has He not said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?" As a child, my father had us memorize one verse from each book of the Bible. This was the verse He chose from Numbers. Without this fact, all of the other encouraging passages of the Bible (like Isaiah 43:1-2) would be worthless! – Valerie Moore

Truths from God's Word are always encouraging to all who truly understand them and accept them. Have a favorite verse that you haven't shared? Let me know. I have some more that have already been sent in and hope to share some more in a few weeks.
