From the broadcast the weekend of June 3rd &  4th, 2017:

Click for the Primitive QuartetOver the years, the Primitive Quartet has attracted a large number of fans because of their distinctive and much-loved style of quartet singing.  As you heard group member Larry Riddle mention on the program, it was simply the style of singing — and instrumentation — that was common in their part of the Smokies region.  And they've been able to sing many outstanding message songs, many of which they write themselves — songs that touch lives with the Gospel, songs that encourage their listeners.

The Primitives' CD featured on this program, "I've Been Touched," is available from our mailorder service, Springside.  Just call 1-800-38-MUSIC to order.    You can order easily from our webstore by using this link to go directly to this item

On the program we mentioned that this summer's 37th Annual Singing In Hominy Valley will be the final one there in the Hominy Valley Music Park,, June 29-July 4.  Although the Primitives will develop new "sings" in the region, this particular long-time tradition is coming to an end.  For more information call 828-667-8502 or visit their website.  Note that the Primitives are not retiring.  In fact, they plan to continue on for some time to come, as you heard Larry mention on the broadcast.

The McGuiresOur Artist Spotlight guests on this program were Todd and Penny McGuire, the McGuires.  Although based in New Brunswick, Canada, they do spend a lot of time traveling and singing in the USA, too, especially in the Northeast.  Songs on this program were from their current CD, "Livin' For That Day."  If you ever get a chance to hear, or, better yet, meet the McGuires, please do so.  They're great at making "fast friends."  And they definitely have a heart for ministry, as you would expect from a former pastor and his wife.  You can check their website or email them at themcguires@rogers.com.  They're on Facebook, too ("The McGuires").
