From the program the weekend of Dec. 5th & 6th, 2009:

One thing I love most about the Christmas season is the music. Christmas music is some of the most joyous and celebratory music heard anytime during the year. That's appropriate, of course, because of what it's all about — the birth of our Savior more than two thousand years ago. I'm delighted that several Southern Gospel groups have chosen to put out new Christmas recordings this year, although some are coming out at the very last minute. And I'm glad so much of what they're recording are brand new Christmas songs (to complement the traditional songs they include). By the way, Christmas songs you'll hear on The Gospel Greats program (and, of course, on our forthcoming Christmas special, "A Gospel Christmas 2009," will be only "Gospel" Christmas songs — because that's what we're all about. You can hear Chestnuts Roasting or Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer somewhere else. If you really want to.

Click for Ernie Haase & Signature Sound One of the best-selling new Christmas CDs this year comes from our Featured Artists on this program, Ernie Haase & Signature Sound. It's called "Every Light That Shines At Christmas." Ernie helped write that song and, as you heard him say, they were trying to come up with a song that would remind you each Christmas season of Christ's birth — in this case, whenever you see Christmas lights. As Ernie also mentioned on the program, they carefully chose every song, not only as a good song to record, but also as a song that would make a special contribution to their Christmas concert tour, currently underway. If you've been to a Signature Sound concert, you can listen to the CD and almost picture what they'll be doing with each song in concert. "Changed By A Baby Boy" and "Christmas Is Christmas" are two very special new songs they included.

Click for Springside The Ernie Haase & Signature Sound CD featured on this program, "Every Light That Shines At Christmas," is available from our mailorder service, Springside. Just call 1-800-38-MUSIC to order. You can order easily from our webstore by using this link to go directly to this item. (Orders over $40 in the USA qualify for free shipping.)

Click for Shiloh Our Artist Spotlight guests on this program were the trio Shiloh, from Mansfield, Texas, with songs from their new Christmas CD, "Noel." Brian White, Jeremy McKissack and Steve Colburn have come up with a most enjoyable collection of new and traditional Christmas songs. I appreciate Brian's comments on the program about their new perspective regarding Christmas following their recent Far East missions trip. By the way, their new CD is scheduled for release December 14th. Information can be found at this link. More info about Shiloh can be found here.
