the weekend of Nov. 21st & 22nd, 2009: |
This was our annual just-before-Thanksgiving
"Thoughts of Thanks" edition. All of our artist comments and
all of our related songs expressed thankfulness to God for all of His matchless
blessings.
One thing that should be quite clear in the artist comments is that these
folks have the same kinds of concerns, the same kinds of challenges, the
same kinds of blessings as do you and I. There is thankfulness for the support
of families — something which is quite difficult for traveling Gospel
singers who spend much of the week on the road. There are those artists who
have lost loved ones this year or who have undergone difficult medical
situations. And there is the thankfulness for being able to minister on a
regular basis through good Southern Gospel music.
As 1st Thes. 5:18 reminds us, "...give thanks in all circumstances; for
this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."
By the way, I realize that our Canadian friends celebrated Thanksgiving a
month ago. And many others listening around the world have no such holiday.
But our "Thoughts of Thanks" theme is something that is a good reminder anytime
of the year, as we should be constantly "abounding in thanksgiving"
(Col. 2:7) for God's many blessings in our lives.
