From the program aired the weekend of Oct. 17th & 18th, 2009:

Click for Inspirations Our Featured Artists on this broadcast were the Inspirations from Bryson City, North Carolina. If memory serves, they were one of the first Featured Artists we had on our broadcast nearly thirty years ago. They're one of those quartets that, although members have changed along the way (especially recently), they still have a very distinctive sound and style. Their latest CD is called "The Son Came Down" and is the first regular recording of theirs to feature the current vocal lineup — Mike Holcomb, Melton Campbell, David Ragan and Dallas Rogers. David joined the group this year and recalls that the Inspirations were the first Gospel quartet he ever heard, back when he was entering 8th grade. Although Dallas has sung with other major quartets, he, too, is new with the Inspirations, joining them when original tenor Archie Watkins decided to leave.

Click for Springside The Inspirations' CD featured on this program, "The Son Came Down," is available from our mailorder service, Springside. You can order easily from our webstore by using this link to go directly to this item. Note, too, that our "Featured Artist Discount" applies to any other currently in-stock recordings by this artist. (Orders over $40 in the USA qualify for free shipping.)

Neil Enloe It was a special pleasure visiting with Neil Enloe on this program's Artist Spotlight segment. Being a fellow Central Pennsylvanian, we heard Neil with the Couriers many years ago, and still enjoy hearing him sing with Dave Kyllonen and Duane Nicholson, the other original Couriers. On this program we visited primarily about Neil's songwriting. Included, of course, was his best-known and most popular song of all time, "The Statue of Liberty." I thought Neil's observations about how that song is sung and enjoyed around the world — not just in America — were especially interesting. Shelia and I were especially honored to attend Neil's recent induction into the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. More information about Neil and what he's doing now can be found at his website, www.neilenloe.com.

I hope you caught our brief visit with Brenda Ruppe Hurte and her husband, Steve Hurte. They dropped by our studios recently to talk about what they're doing these days and, especially, that one song they have put out to radio called "God Is Working." We've been getting a lot of calls about that song. But I must reiterate that the song is not yet available on a CD, as you heard Steve explain on the broadcast. Nevertheless, even through just radio play (and, of course, at their concerts) the song certainly is touching lives, reassuring us that God is at work, doing His will, whether we see what He's doing or not. As I mentioned on the program, we'll visit more with Steve as a songwriter on a future program.

Ann Downing's new book "Skidmarks On The Road Of Life," mentioned on the Headline Update, can be ordered through our webstore, springside.com. More info about the Harvester's Quartet Reunion, also mentioned on the Headline Update, can be found at www.harvestersquartet.com. That concert is October 30th at the Dennis Wiker Civic Center in Sanford, North Carolina.
