From the program aired the weekend of Sept. 26th & 27th, 2009:

Click for Whisnants Our Featured Artists on this program were the Whisnants with songs from their new "Life Worth Living" CD. The Whisnants are Jeff & Susan Whisnant, Aaron Hise and pianist Eric Ollis. Included was their new radio song, "I'll Pray For You." I enjoyed Susan's story about the reaction that song sometimes gets in concert, as individuals actually move around the church to hug others and promise to pray for them. I liked Jeff's comments that they're finding the current economic downturn actually creates a wonderful opportunity for sharing the Gospel with those in need. Because this program was a countdown, I didn't have a chance to play as many songs from this CD as usual for Featured Artists, but I'll include one or two more in future weeks. By the way, the "Be Not Afraid" song that appeared on this program as part of the October countdown is actually from their previous CD entitled "Promises." More info about the Whisnants can be found at www.whisnants.com.

Click for Springside The Whisnants' new CD featured on this program, "Life Worth Living," is available from our mailorder service, Springside. Just call 1-800-38-MUSIC to order. Milton "Big MO" Ostrander's story on this broadcast about the man who heard one of MO's songs on radio, was touched, got out of the car, kneeled down beside the road and accepted Christ, is the kind of story I love to hear. There is power in the message of good, anointed Gospel songs.

Lewis FamilyAs you heard on the Headline Update, the Lewis Family has presented their final concert. Veteran reporter John Heil caught up with Little Roy Lewis for an interview just hours before that final concert in Dover, PA. As you heard, retiring the group was a difficult but unavoidable decision, due to health issues. Nevertheless, it does mark the end of an era that spanned nearly six decades. We'll share more of this interview on future programs.

This was the official Singing News Top 20 Countdown Edition, reflecting the chart as it appears in the magazine's October issue. The chart, based on frequency of airplay of each song, is compiled by polling radio stations across the land that play Southern Gospel music.
