| From the program
aired the weekend of Aug. 29th & 30th, 2009: |
This was our official Singing News Top 20 Countdown Edition,
based on the song chart appearing in the magazine's September issue.
Congratulations to Ernie Haase & Signature Sound for another number
one song, "The Old Landmark," their second number one from their
"Dream On" CD. The other one was "Reason Enough" back in January.
As you heard on the program, this marks their fifth number one song (or sixth,
if you count the one they recorded jointly with the Gaither Vocal Band,
"Love Is Like A River." Their previous number one songs were "Get
Away Jordan" (January 2008), "John In The Jordan" (May 2007) and
"Do You Want To Be Forgiven" (March 2006).
I thought Matthew Browder's story about how the Browders completely
changed a song that had already been recorded and made it into a song that
is, in fact, the "Rapid Riser" on the September Top 20. So
the radio version is different from the original CD version, although I suppose
they might change that on newer batches of the CD. "King's Kid" was
originally called "Poor Boy." And that gives more meaning to what
the song says from a poor boy to a King's kid!
If you're a Southern Gospel concert promoter,
please consider membership in the Southern Gospel Promoters Association,
as heard on this program's Headline Update. More information about
joining the SGPA can be found
here. I think you would find it very helpful in many ways.
More information about the 34th Annual Blue Mountain Gospel Music
Festival, Sept. 2-6, 2009, at Lebanon, PA, can be found at

If you drop by, please say "hi" to Shelia at the Springside table in the
lobby and to me (if you can find me running around between doing interviews).
