From the program aired the weekend of Aug.15th & 16th, 2009:

Click for Gordon Mote Our Featured Artist on this program was Gordon Mote — talented singer, gifted songwriter and one of the most in-demand studio musicians in Nashville. In fact, if it involves music, Gordon can do it — and do it well. Songs featured were from his brand new solo CD, "I Will Sing," which is just now being released. I found interesting his comment that this recording is more "serious," or more message-oriented than his previous solo CDs, all of which have included strong message songs. But clearly such songs as "Wounded Hands" and "Hold Me Up" will be speaking to a lot of people during times of special need.

One thing Gordon mention bears repeating. When asked how people could pray for him, he responds with a request to pray for his family — and the families of other traveling artists. This is an excellent point As Gordon put it, "Pray for our families...because the devil knows where to get us. And he knows that the family is a very important part of what we do. So that's where he tries to attack us first, as far as our being discouraged. So...if you want to pray for us, pray for our families, too." Excellent point.

Evident Call Our Artist Spotlight guests on this edition were the trio known as Evident Call, comprised of brothers Tony and Tim McKinney and Monica Carver. They've been singing as Evident Call for just a few years, but with their gifts of singing and songwriting, I'm sure we'll be hearing from them for many years to come. As their website proclaims, "The heart of Evident Call is to share the Gospel through song, drawing people into His presence and allowing the Holy Spirit to minister. They love and enjoy what they do, but ultimately, Monica, Tim and Tony love who they serve, Jesus Christ, and want to spread the message of His love and saving grace to the nations." You can contact them at 864-836-7235 or visit their website, www.evidentcall.com.

This program's "Yesterday's Voices" feature remembered the late Eldridge Fox of the Kingsmen. Thanks to all of you who have expressed such appreciation for these summertime features which I began last year. Someone said, "I'd like to hear a whole hour of that." So, that's something we're tentatively planning for next year in conjunction with the program's 30th anniversary celebration year.

As mentioned on the Headline Update, the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame and Museum at Dollywood theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, is one destination every true Southern Gospel music fan should include on their travel plans at some point. Information about the museum can be found at www.sgma.org and information about the dates and times Dollywood is open can be found at http://dollywood.com/dates-hours/.
