From the program aired the weekend of August 1st & 2nd, 2009:

This was one of our occasional All-Listener Favorites editions. I thoroughly enjoy these because it gives me a chance to hear what your current favorite songs are — and why they are such favorites. You probably noticed that there was a strong theme running through many of the songs requested dealing with the fact that, even in the most difficult of times, we can rely on the Lord to sustain and protect us. It's obviously a reminder we need to hear in these difficult times. We were delighted with how many people called our Listener Favorites line when it was open recently, especially because the number of callers usually drops during the summer. (Too many outdoors things going on, you know.) I find it interesting, too, that many of the songs requested were older songs, some going back twenty years or more — but still, obviously, favorites. We do Call-Ins about three or four times a year. The next one is likely sometime this fall. When a date is selected, it will be announced on the air and posted on our website's Listener Favorites page.

Click for Driven Quartet Our Featured Artists on this broadcast were the Driven Quartet. They are Jason Funderburk (singing lead, and son of popular veteran tenor Danny Funderburk), Chad Smith (baritone), Will Lane (bass) and Scott Penuel (tenor). These guys collectively have about a quarter-century of singing experience, although the group as such dates back only to about 2006 (on the road early 2007). Songs on this program were from their "Driven Quartet" CD, including their recent radio hit, "Between The Rock And A Hard Place." I really enjoyed their song, "The Story Of My Life," which, as Jason said, fits them, but really fits anyone in any form of ministry (which, strictly speaking, is any Christian). "I'm Pressing On" is another encouraging song. More info about the group is on their website, www.drivenqt.com. (Caution: this site may load slowly.)

Click for Springside The Driven Quartet's CD featured on this program, "Driven Quartet," is available from our mailorder service, Springside. Just call 1-800-38-MUSIC to order. You can order easily from our webstore by using this link to go directly to this item. (Orders over $40 in the USA qualify for free shipping.)

Information about the 41st annaul Brumley Gospel Sing (mentioned on the Headline Update) can be found online at www.brumleymusic.com. The dates are August 5th through the 8th, 2009, at the Cowan Civic Center in Lebanon, Missouri.
