From the program aired the weekend of July 11th & 12th, 2009:

Click for Squire Parsons Trio Our Featured Artists on this program were Squire Parsons and his Squire Parsons Trio. Squire has always been a favorite of Southern Gospel fans, ever since his days with the Kingsmen back in the late 1970s. It's hard to believe he's been on his own for about three decades. He's often considered a solo artist, but he also has his trio, the Squire Parsons Trio. Their latest recording, as featured on this broadcast, is of the trio. It's called "Glorious Gospel Story," the title song of which is one of Squire's newer compositions. As you heard, Squire also dug back in his huge repertoire for a few of his other long-ago favorites. It was interesting to hear Squire, as an extremely prolific songwriter, say that his songwriting has become much more deliberate in recent years with the Gospel message becoming more important than ever.

Click for Springside The Squire Parsons Trio's CD featured on this program, "Glorious Gospel Story," is available from our mailorder service, Springside. Just call 1-800-38-MUSIC to order. Long ago Squire Parsons was given the nickname "the Gentle Giant." He's a tall man. I remember many years ago Shelia and I purchased a small truck-body camper to use to do interviews when necessary at outdoor summer events. I'll never forget how Squire practically had to crawl into that thing. Of course, I couldn't stand up straight either. That camper didn't last long. And it's a lot more fun remembering the experience than it was at the time.

Rosie RozellLast summer I started a "Yesterday's Voices" feature on the program and so many of you told me you wanted more that I decided to bring it back this summer. These features include songs and brief clips from our extensive interview archives with Southern Gospel legends who have passed away. Featured on this program was Rosie Rozell, the legendary tenor with the Statesmen back in the 1960s. We'll include a few more of these as the summer goes on.

If you called our Listener Favorites line on Sunday, July 12th, thank you! We'll have an all-Listener Favorites program soon, probably during August.

On the Headline Update you heard about the new Branson Gospel Music Convention. Here's a link for more information: www.bransongmc.com.

Roy Webb's "Timeless" hymns recording, two selections from which were heard on this program, is available through our Springside.com webstore. Here's the link.
