aired the weekend of June 13th & 14th, 2009: |
Our Featured Artist on this program was soloist
Mitchel Jon. Most of us got to know him first at Mitch Kenitzer
when he sang with Three Bridges. But when he went solo he started
using just his first and middle names, believing it was easier to remember
than "Kenitzer," which a lot of people didn't remember anyway. By whatever
name, he's enjoying his ministry, singing mostly in churches across America.
His current chart song, "Something Visible," is a wonderful challenge
to the Christian to let others see Christ in them through their lives and
what they do. As his bio says, "Coming from a small North Dakota town
to the music capital of Nashville, Mitchel Jon thanks God for all He has
brought him through and blessed him with, and looks forward to the rest of
the journey sharing His love."
Mitchel Jon's CD featured on this program, "Pourin'
Rain," is available from our mailorder service, Springside. Just call
1-800-38-MUSIC to order. You can order easily from our webstore by

for free shipping.)
Danny Funderburk is quite an interesting man,
and I'm glad we had the opportunity to visit with him for an Artist Spotlight
segment on this program. We've known Danny since his days singing tenor with
the Cathedrals and, over the years, his love for sharing the Gospel
through his singing hasn't diminished in the least. That's especially amazing
because he suffered a stroke some time ago that doctors said would leave
him blind in one eye and unable to sing. That hasn't happened, even though
the blood clot that caused the problem is still present. Danny simply credits
God for doing what has amazed his doctors. More of Danny's bio can be found
on his website. By
the way, Danny's very proud of his son, Jason, who has his own group,
Driven.
About a month ago when we had Mark
Bishop on the program as Featured Artist, we played several songs from
his "Fields of Love" CD which progressively told the story of a farmer,
his crisis of faith and how that crisis was resolved. But we intentionally
didn't play the song that really brings closure to the story. We did that
so it would be more meaningful if you got the CD and listened to it straight
through. Well, now, Mark has released as his new radio single the song called
"Blue Skies." This song is the "closure" song that wraps up Mark's
story about the farmer and his wife. And that's why I now included it on
this broadcast. Again, if you haven't heard Mark's CD, I would commend it
to you.
